Too many investors and developers struggle with unreliable financial data from free sources or pay hundreds of dollars monthly for premium tools. We believe accurate financial data should be accessible to everyone—not just institutional investors.

Why We Built Metric Duck

Like many investors, we were frustrated by inaccurate financial data. Free APIs had errors, missing metrics, and outdated information. Premium tools cost $200+ per month, putting them out of reach for individual investors and small teams.

We asked ourselves: Why is accurate financial data so hard to get?

The answer: most platforms aggregate data from multiple middlemen, introducing errors at every step. We decided to build something different—a platform that sources data directly from SEC Edgar filings, the official source of truth for US public company disclosures.

Our Approach

Direct from SEC Edgar

We parse data directly from 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K filings using XBRL—no middlemen, no aggregators, no errors from third-party sources.

Pre-computed Metrics

We calculate 200+ financial metrics (ROIC, WACC, FCF, ratios) so you don't have to spend hours in Excel. Our methodology is transparent and documented.

Every page shows "Last Updated" timestamps. We document our limitations. If we don't have data, we say so—no guessing, no filling gaps.
